CAMP METAMORPHOSIS BC 2017: Prophets of the Galilean
In our eighth year of camp in B.C., we were blessed to have 90 campers and 22 staff in attendance.
Camp took place from Saturday, August 26th to Friday September 1st, 2017, once again at Pioneer Pacific Christian Camp on Thetis Island (between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island). The theme this year was the Prophets of the Galilean. “For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come” (Hebrews 13:14). Campers learned about the Old Testament Prophets who like pirates were radical figures always searching for truth and leading others in finding spiritual treasure, the kingdom which is to come. Our overarching theme the past three years has been the Old Testament beginning with the Big Creation Theoria (Genesis – Creation) in 2015, Who is your Father? (Ten Commandments) in 2016, and this year with Prophets of the Galilean; next year, in 2018, the Theotokos and St. John the Baptist, and we are looking forward to our tenth year in 2019, which will celebrate the Incarnation of the Logos.
In addition to our group of volunteers, headed up by our Administrative Director Ms. Elleni Asimakis, Programs Director Ms. Aphrodite Koseos, and Staff Director Mr. Yanni Alexandropoulos, Fr. Timoleon Prattas (Sts. Nicholas and Demetrios, East Vancouver), Fr. Matthew Francis (Holy Apostles OCA, Chilliwack), Fr. Justin Hewlett (St. John of Shanghai OCA, Vancouver), Fr. Micheal Gillis (Holy Nativity Antiochian, Langley) and Camp MET BC Spiritual Director Fr. Constantinos Economos (St. George, Vancouver), were the participating clergy.
